Admission Policy & Process

The admission process is de-centralized. In April & May every year the Principal convenes meetings of the Heads and Coordinators of all departments and other teachers  to discuss and decide the admission rules, schedule and authorized persons to be involved in it  so that transparency should be maintained. Admission process is completely online.  Schedules are  prepared  separately and Notice or  Press Releases are  displayed/ circulated / published  four times for  different admissions :  

In  April-May every year  the admission schedule of  B.Ed. Course

In  last  week of  May every year the admission schedule of   Vocational Courses

In  last week of  May every year  the admission schedule of  UG  traditional Courses

In June after result of UG courses by Ranchi University admission schedule of  PG Course

This year the admission schedules have been delayed  due  to  details issued  by Ranchi University for  Choice Based Credit System to be introduced this year.


Students who fulfill the criteria  required for  admission  in B.A, B.Sc. or B. Com. Honours courses in this college submit the filled up admission form either  at the college counter or  send it through postage.   

The whole process is computerized and put on the server  of  the  college. Additional Computer Operators are provided to each department for posting details on computers and preparing the mother chart.  All Heads and Coordinators of the departments  monitor  the admission process. The committees check the data and mother chart and then automated selection lists for admissions under each reserved category are prepared as per rules and regulations. Transparency is thoroughly observed  during all procedures.

The selections are made on  basis of  :

(i) Merit  is  observed for admission in traditional subjects  and B.Ed..

(ii) Entrance Test  is conducted for admission in  C.A., I.T., Bio.-Tech. & B.B.A. besides observing merit.  Interviews are also conducted.

(iii)  In some traditional subjects like  English, Physics, Mathematics etc. and in Fashion  Designing and Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Interviews are conducted.

(iv)  In some subjects pre-admission counseling is  conducted.

(v) Special Tests and interviews are conducted  for admission under Sports & Cultural quota

(vi)  Sports Forms of  B.Ed. applicants are certified by the D.S.W. Cell of Ranchi      University.

(vii)   NCC Certificates are verified from NCC Office

(viii)  Students of  B.Ed. under Physically Challenged quota go through interview with a Doctor in the team .

As mentioned earlier the   selection  lists  are displayed on the College Notice Board and in the Departments. Cut off   marks of each  subjects  are published in the daily news papers so that it may be seen by a  student  from any place of Jharkhand. Selection lists and cut off marks are displayed on the  college website  also  so that students  can see  it  from any part  of nation or abroad whether they have been selected or not. As  all details of fees and other things are available on the website and in the prospectus it is the time of student to decide for admission. We try to send mass messages to selected students  for admission.

Girls desirous of seeking admission in MA, M.Sc. or M. Com. courses in this college must submit duly filled up admission form issued by college either online or at college counter after publication of results of their respective graduation level examination of RU or equivalent boards.  

Following Process is adopted for admission in U.G & P.G Courses:

i.  Department wise admission committees are constituted by the Principal well in advance. Admission committee is headed by HOD / Coordinator of the concerned department and also consists of other faculty members of that department.

ii.  All committees function under the supervision of the Principal.

iii.  Principal calls meetings of admission committees to re-acquaint the members with the   admission procedure,  rules, reservation policy of Govt. of Jharkhand and R.U to be  followed in admission .

iv.  After the expiry of last date of submission of filled up forms, subject wise  consolidated   Computerized   Mother Chart of all application received is prepared by the office. The  names of applicants are arranged in order of merit and entries of all relevant details are  made carefully.

v.  Mother chart along with received filled up forms are sent to respective departmental admission committee for further scrutiny of forms and correction in mother chart is made if entries are found to be different from the filled form. If any discrepancies are found, they are immediately brought to the notice of all concerned. They are addressed and resolved on timely basis by the college. Physical verification of the genuineness of the documents submitted is done at departmental level.

vi.  Final Merit lists are prepared adhering to the admission rules including reservation  meticulously by admission committees.

vii. Final merit lists are displayed on college notice boards and websites .with necessary  instructions.

viii. Verified forms of selected students along with merit lists are sent by the departments to admission clerk at admission counters for facilitating admission process.

ix. After securing admission each students shall be registered in a particular course .

       Criteria for admission

 Merit  and  reservation Policy of state government are the main criteria for admission in all courses of college.  Entrance Tests are conducted in self-financing courses. Pre-admission  counseling  is conducted by many departments.

A. Eligibility for admission in B.A,  B.Sc  or B. Com .Honours.

i. Minimum 45% Marks at Plus two level in concerned subject in which Honours is aspired

ii. An applicant who has passed plus two level examination in science can apply for B. Com. Honours or B.A Honours also provided she has secured 45% marks in aggregate at plus two science level.

iii. An applicant who has passed plus commerce can apply for B.A Honours provided she has secured at least 45% marks in aggregate at +2 commerce level .

     B . Eligibility for admission in B. A./ B. Sc. Self-Financing Vocational Courses.

i. Minimum 45% Marks at Plus two level

ii. IA/ I.Sc./ I.Com Students can apply for Computer Application, FD  & BBA

iii. I.Sc. with mathematics compulsory are eligible for Information Technology

iv. I.Sc. with Biology  compulsory are eligible for Bio-Technology

v. I.Sc. with Chemistry compulsory are eligible for CN&D

C. Eligibility for admission in B.Ed. Course

i.  As per NCTE norms

       D. Eligibility for admission in M.A/ M.Sc./ M.Com. Courses.

 A Student may be admitted in a particular postgraduate Course. If she has

i) Passed bachelor’s degree examination from a university / college recognized by UGC.

ii) Secured a minimum of 45% marks in Honours examination in the concerned subject as well as in aggregate or a minimum of 60% marks in Pass Course Examination at degree level with a minimum of 45% marks in subject concerned. Merit wise selection list is prepared by each department following the norms of reservation.

E. Registration of students for Ph.D. Programmes are done by Postgraduate Department of Ranchi University.  Supervisors’ form our college gets their research scholars enrolled through their respective postgraduate University Departments Ranchi University.
